Inclusive Framework

You can't be an inclusive teacher without: ___": A guide to move to and through Illinois's mandated units of study, aims to support teachers in engaging with and incorporating Illinois’s Mandated Units of Study by understanding the connective tissue between units and sharing ways to make those connections in the classroom.

I love this quote from the introduction:
“…we also encourage readers to consider how the infinitely diverse people who inhabit—and have inhabited—the place we call the U.S. create a unique historical/herstorical/theirstorical tapestry, knowing that this tapestry would be incomplete if even one element were absent.”

I developed the visual identity and layout for the guide. See below.

The themes of weaving, braiding, tapestry, and collective fabric are metaphors throughout the guide, so naturally, I proposed weaving imagery. I cut strips from an assortment of collected and found magazines and ephemera and made paper weavings. Then pulled colors from these weavings to represent each big idea in the framework.
